Do you sew, knit or crochet?

Are you as disgusted by the gulf oil spill as I am?

Well, if you are, and you want to do something to help that is crafty, Craft Hope is organizing a donation drive for handmade washclothes and hand towels to use in cleaning the oil from the marine wildlife that has been impacted.

The project information page is here: Project-8 Gulf Coast Oil Spill.

The preferred fiber is cotton. I happen to have a lot of cotton yarn that I have been making market bags out of and the bits and bobs from the ends of the balls will be perfect for this. So, I am getting out the yarn and my H-hook and washclothes it is. BTW, clothes like this are a perfect way to learn new stitches while knitting or crocheting and then there is something practical to do with the finished product. Also, crocheting a 10" by 10" square doesn't take me much time at all. This seems like a win-win for me.

I have made a lot of chemo caps in the last 8 months or so, it is always good when you can make something and know that it is going somewhere where it will be useful.
