Neck infection.

There is no way to make this funny. I have a pussy mess under my left earlobe and it is close to my brain, so I need to go to the doctor and get this thing under control.

It just spewed pus about half an hour ago so, I keep thinking it could just spew and get better before morning because my insurance would cover so much more if I just went to the doctor. This is close to my brain and it is almost 1 am. It also hurts.

Shit, thinking this out on a journaling site before I get in the car and go. Antibiotics soon.

odd, macbook battery thing.

I have thought my battery in my macbook pro has been dead like a gone to the fishes, needs to be recycled thing since Feb. Since I've plugged my computer into the power source at my house, the battery is charging. Um, I have no explanation for this. MD power gives better charging does not seem like a rational explanation. Anyway, I still need a new battery, but I could possibly go without a cord for an hour now. Weird.

Glee fic rec: I have read this story 4 times now.

And while I don't know why I like it so much other than the fact it is well written, I keep re-reading it. I think this may be a person who is well known in another fandom who is adopting a new name because Glee is such a mess of a fandom, except when it isn't. Like when I read this story.

Anyway - if you are at all familiar with Glee and watched the season finale and are interested I found The World is Where You're Not by alys_underwater to be a really good read, it is sad and yet I found it really sweet and I like Glee fic that is sad. These kids are sad and so is life sometimes. The author is kind of amazing, I was surprised when I clicked and discovered that this was the only story at the time posted on a new journal, I then thought that this must be someone who has a long history of writing somewhere. This Someone may have started a new journal identity for writing in this fandom and that is okay, but I want to read their other fanfic because I liked this so much. The show can be a mess, the fandom can be a mess. But I really liked the story.

Rachel and Finn and life after the S1 finale of Glee. I really can't summarize the story well, it is just good.

Hawaii five-o

I don't even know why the original is so much a loved thing. Steve McGarret and Book him Danno catch phrase was part of my kidhood. Hell, my mom was watching re-runs somewhere for LOTS of years. I grew up watching Ironsides and Hawaii 5-O that one show with Peter Falk and the McCaw, what was that?. It just was. I watched cop shows as a kid and as a young adult and I think I really am going to love the new show.

I am gleeful for the re-boot. Okay, I have tv crushes on both Alex O'Loughlin and Daniel Dae Kim. And apparently there is some James Marsters in there somewhere in the pilot maybe?

But I LOVE my antagonistic buddy cop tv shows. That would be my adoration of Pembleton and Bayliss and Fraser and Ray V and Fraser and Ray K. also the trailer looks like fun.

Anyway, here is a trailer. Watch if you want. :)

That is surprising....

It seems that Torchwood is coming back for another season. I am rather surprised and cautiously optimistic. Cool.

Read about it here.

Do you sew, knit or crochet?

Are you as disgusted by the gulf oil spill as I am?

Well, if you are, and you want to do something to help that is crafty, Craft Hope is organizing a donation drive for handmade washclothes and hand towels to use in cleaning the oil from the marine wildlife that has been impacted.

The project information page is here: Project-8 Gulf Coast Oil Spill.

The preferred fiber is cotton. I happen to have a lot of cotton yarn that I have been making market bags out of and the bits and bobs from the ends of the balls will be perfect for this. So, I am getting out the yarn and my H-hook and washclothes it is. BTW, clothes like this are a perfect way to learn new stitches while knitting or crocheting and then there is something practical to do with the finished product. Also, crocheting a 10" by 10" square doesn't take me much time at all. This seems like a win-win for me.

I have made a lot of chemo caps in the last 8 months or so, it is always good when you can make something and know that it is going somewhere where it will be useful.

indy 500

I grew up with the Indy 500 and am now watching it via a live feed on the internet as, I am currently in the media blackout area around Indianapolis that does get the action live on tv. It is a pretty good race. I have posted about this in years past, how I do always watch the race when I can. And it is pretty damned cool being able to follow it online and it is also pretty damned cool to be sort of closer to the race as I am sort of located locally. Neat.

I don't even care who wins, the strategy and the luck and the skill. It is just fun to watch. Dario Franchitti may take this. :)

wow, a really bad way to win it. wow. I hope everyone involved in the accident on the last lap is okay. wow.

Christian Kane is so awesome

he takes out his own stitches.

I am not even kidding - check out John Rogers' blog post about it.

http://kfmonkey.blogspot.com/2009/06/why-is-chris-wearing-hat-in-207.html

I really, really understanding why he would want to take out his own stitches. Mine from ankle surgery 3 come out tomorrow. \o/ I am itchy in the extreme and the stitches are stabbity at times. Of course this is after having 9 days of stitches. Egad. Give the skin some time to heal, Chris.

waiting, and waiting some more

Mom is at the oncologist right now. I am waiting here at their house.

She was nervous before she left, and as I am the crier in family she was totally stoic. And we all know that this visit is not the biggie, the biopsy is the important procedure that comes next. She told me this afternoon that she missed shopping and that she thought that this might be the end and that it was such a shame to waste such a beautiful day being inside and in pain.

Her telling me that kind of killed me. And yep, I cried after she left.

I do not know what to do with myself. I've been catching up with the "Deadliest Catch" which has also made me cry. As does just about everything right now. I have not ever eaten crab and I don't know why this show is so compelling, is it Mike Rowe's narration? Is it the guys on the sea vs. the elements? Or is it just that I really like the ocean and although I know I could never be a fisherman I just like the whole ocean thing? And why does it make me cry?

Oy.

Of the good? "Glee" the new show that premiered last night on Fox made me cry in that good way, as in I like this and I could keep watching this and I am so a dork because a show about a show choir is so destined to fail and yet I liked it and I will wave my dork flag. *waves*

also, AI finale tonight. And for the first time ever I really don't care who wins. I am just completely in awe of Adam Lambert. The guy will hopefully have an awesome career. And Kris, I like him just fine. I will listen to him when I want to just sit back and be mellow.

Subscribing vs. Access - What to DO?

So, I have likely been overthinking this WAY too much, but I have finally decided what I am going to do about subscribe vs. access here on DW. I am subscribing to a lot of new people because I love the feature that allows the separating of people who I read vs. allowing people that have never shown any interest in anything I have to say read what I do have to say in my journal. I know, I am a weirdo. But I want to know that I have at least a little level of mutual trust with those that can read my locked posts.

What I have decided to do is give access to everyone who has given me access and is also subscribed to this journal. I am also going to give access to people who are subscribed if I do trust them to keep what is behind the lock behind the lock even though that person has not given me access.

However, I don't want to clutter up people's reading lists with posts of mine if they aren't interested in the personal stuff, so if you really do just want to read the fannish content please let me know and I will take you off of my access list.

And to facilitate that I give you a poll:

Poll #189 Access or no, that is the question
Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 9

Hello!

Well, that went extremely well! I have managed to set up this new journal and import all of my entries and comments from LJ without a single snag. \o/!

I am very impressed with DW so far, well done people, well done.

At this point I think I am going to try to shift all of my fannish reading and posting to Dreamwidth and mirror personal (locked) posts on both sites. At this point there is not much that is strictly fannish that I have published under this username (one lonely little Leverage ficlet! poor, lonely ficlet.) but I am writing quite a bit for the first time in years so there may be an upswing in fic posts.

I am happy to be here and happy to meet new people, so feel free to drop in and say hello.
